چکیده
The statistical information processing can be characterized by the likelihood function de ned by giving an explicit form for an approximation to the true distribution. This mathematical representation, which is usually called a model, is built based on not only the current data but also prior knowledge on the object and the objective of the analysis. Akaike 3) showed that the log-likelihood can be considered as an estimate of the Kullback-Leibler (K-L) information which measures the similarity between the predictive distribution of the model and the true distribution. Akaike information criterion (AIC) is an estimate of the K-L information and makes it possible to evaluate and compare the goodness of many models objectively. In consequence, the minimum AIC procedure allows us to develop automatic modeling and signal extraction procedures. In this article, we give a simple explanation of statistical modeling based on the AIC and demonstrate four examples of applying the minimum AIC procedure to an automatic transaction of signals observed in the earth sciences. x

"Plug & Test" at System Level via Testable TLM Primitives
With the evolution of Electronic System Level (ESL) design methodologies, we are experiencing an extensive use of Transaction-Level Modeling (TLM). TLM is a high-level approach to modeling digital systems where details of the communication among modules are separated from the those of the implementation of functional units. This paper represents a first step toward the automatic insertion of te...
متن کاملAssertion-Based Verification of Transaction Level Models
Transaction Level Modeling with SystemC has become a de-facto industry standard for modeling of system-on-chip designs. The correctness of these models is therefore of crucial importance. In this paper, we propose a novel methodology to apply AssertionBased Verification to Transaction Level Models. The novelty is based on two contributions: (1) Using Aspect-Oriented Programming techniques permi...
متن کاملRobust multiplicative video watermarking using statistical modeling
The present paper is intended to present a robust multiplicative video watermarking scheme. In this regard, the video signal is segmented into 3-D blocks like cubes, and then, the 3-D wavelet transform is applied to each block. The low frequency components of the wavelet coefficients are then used for data embedding to make the process robust against both malicious and unintentional attacks. Th...
متن کاملAn Improved Automatic EEG Signal Segmentation Method based on Generalized Likelihood Ratio
It is often needed to label electroencephalogram (EEG) signals by segments of similar characteristics that are particularly meaningful to clinicians and for assessment by neurophysiologists. Within each segment, the signals are considered statistically stationary, usually with similar characteristics such as amplitude and/or frequency. In order to detect the segments boundaries of a signal, we ...
متن کاملA Bilevel Scheduling Approach for Modeling Energy Transaction of Virtual Power Plants in Distribution Networks
By increasing the use of distributed generation (DG) in the distribution network operation, an entity called virtual power plant (VPP) has been introduced to control, dispatch and aggregate the generation of DGs, enabling them to participate either in the electricity market or the distribution network operation. The participation of VPPs in the electricity market has made challenges to fairly a...
